HC Deb 27 July 1989 vol 157 c859W
Mr. Amos

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if, consequent upon the execution of Derrick Gregory, he will make it his policy to review all British aid to Malaysia; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Sainsbury

We have already expressed our disappointment that the Malaysian Government were unable to respond favourably to our appeals for clemency. Nonetheless, Derrick Gregory was fairly tried under Malaysian law. He himself never denied his guilt. It is not appropriate to link this case with United Kingdom aid to Malaysia.
