§ Mr. Norman LamontThe output measure of gross domestic product is estimated to have grown by 2½ per cent. in the year to the first quarter of 1989. But this figure was depressed by accidents in the North sea oil sector. Excluding North sea oil, output grew by 4 per cent. in the year to the first quarter of 1989.
