HC Deb 24 July 1989 vol 157 cc476-7W
Mr. Ron Davies

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment whether his Department has taken any action on the recommendation by the Environment Select Committee's second report on toxic waste that landfill sites no longer be used to dispose of clinical hospital waste.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

The Government response (Cm. 679 April 1989) to the Environment Committee report indicated that clinical wastes should be managed in accordance with guidelines in waste management paper No. 25 which advises that landfill is suitable for only a restricted range of clinical wastes. This advice is currently under review.
