HC Deb 21 July 1989 vol 157 cc403-4W
Mr. Mullin

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) if he will call for a report from the chief constable of the west midlands as to on how many occasions complaints have been received against detective sergeant Michael Hornby; and what action has been taken in each case;

(2) if, pursuant to his answer on 5 July, he will call for a report from the chief constable of the west midlands as to how many complaints have been received against detective sergeant Michael Hornby since 1974; what action was taken in 1980 on the one occasion he was disciplined; and what was the nature of the complaint against him.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

[pursuant to his replies of 5 and 11 July 1989, columns 190 and 425]: I now understand from the chief constable of the West Midlands police that the information provided by the force that detective sergeant Michael Hornby had been the subject of disciplinary proceedings in 1980 is incorrect. Detective sergeant Hornby has never faced disciplinary charges.

I regret any inconvenience or embarrassment which this incorrect information may have caused.
