§ Mr. NeedhamIn October 1988, 322,000 dwellings were privately owned and 29,600 were in the private rented sector, including housing associations. The Northern Ireland Housing Executive is the sole public sector housing authority within the Province and owns 171,000 houses.
Statistics on the total number of houses owned by local authorities and other public bodies are not available but the number is small.
