To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what plans he has to help the livestock sector of the industry during the coming year; and if he will make a statement.

I shall continue to make appropriate provision to support the livestock sector during 1989. Actual levels of support will be dependent upon the outcome of this year's price-fixing negotiations; and, in the beef and sheep sectors, the results of the current negotiations on the future of the relevant CAP regimes.
