§ Mr. PortilloStatutory responsibility for the safe operation of its services rests with British Rail. I know, however, that in the light of the findings of its internal inquiry into the Clapham accident, it initiated urgent investigations to confirm that signalling systems elsewhere on its lines are in order. I understand that London bridge signal box, which controls operations at Borough junction, has been checked as part of this exercise.
