HC Deb 20 February 1989 vol 147 c468W
Mr. Wray

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he has made known to the South African Government the concern felt by British people for the hunger strikers in Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth.

Mrs. Chalker

We have repeatedly urged the South African authorities to release all those detained without trial, and have done so again recently. We welcome the reported commitment by the South African Minister for Law and Order to give urgent personal consideration to the case of each detainee.
