HC Deb 20 February 1989 vol 147 c514W
Mr. Jack

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what studies his Department has undertaken of capital spending on church-aided schools in Lancashire.

Mr. Butcher

Each year my right hon. Friend invites governors of aided schools in Lancashire and other LEAs to assess the need for new school building projects, and to formulate and submit appropriate plans through the LEA. Five new major building projects at aided schools in Lancashire were recently approved for a start in 1989–90; this was the largest number of new starts approved for any LEA.
