To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what plans he has to control and regulate the activities of liquidators.

Mr. Maude

The Insolvency Act 1986, which came into operation on 29 December 1986, requires all persons to be suitably qualified and authorised before acting as insolvency practitioners. This includes being appointed to the office of liquidator.

There are no plans to regulate further their activities.
