HL Deb 14 February 1989 vol 504 c168WA
Baroness Jeger

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What progress has been made towards a solution of the Cyprus problem.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Lord Glenarthur)

In the current round of intercommunal talks, the two sides agreed to explore the options for settlement of all the main issues of the Cyprus problem before reviewing progress with the United Nations Secretary-General in March. Progress to date has been modest. We urge the two sides to redouble their efforts to agree on a range of options, so that detailed negotiations may begin.
