To ask the Secretary of State for Defence (1) on how many occasions since 1979 permission for emigration to, or travel within, the Soviet Union or other COMECON countries has been denied to applicants formerly employed at the atomic weapons research establishments;

(2) on how many occasions since 1979 permission for emigration to, or travel within, the Soviet Union or other COMECON eastern bloc countries has been denied to applicants formerly employed at the Ministry of Defence.
