HL Deb 06 February 1989 vol 503 c1423WA
Lord Campbell of Alloway

asked Her Majesty's Government:

On how many occasions searches of premises have been authorised by a superintendent of police under the provisions of paragraph 4(4) of Schedule 3 to the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act 1984 and the similar provisions in the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Acts 1974 and 1976.

The Earl of Dundee

Searches have been authorised under these provisions on nine occasions in England and Wales. I understand from my right honourable friends the Secretaries of State that such searches have been authorised on five occasions in Scotland and on no occasion in Northern Ireland.
