HL Deb 02 February 1989 vol 503 cc1306-7WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether any prosecutions are intended at Heathrow, and if so of whom, for the disregard of responsibilities hived off to commercial firms by the Secretary of State for Transport.

Lord Brabazon of Tara

Although I do not recognise the reference to responsibilities hived off to commercial firms, 1 assume that the noble Lord is referring to the matters which were the subject of a statement made by my right honourable friend the Secretary of State for Transport in another place on 16th January. There are no grounds for prosecutions under the Aviation Security Act 1982. I do not know whether the police or others have a case for prosecution on other than aviation security grounds, I understand that the police are investigating but have not yet reached any conclusions.
