§ Mr. DewarTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list (i) the statutory requirements governing the publication of reports of the North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board and the South of Scotland Electricity Board, (ii) the dates on which such reports have been published in each year since nationalisation, either for existing or predecessor corporation, and (iii) indicate when the reports for 1988–89 will be published.
§ Mr. RifkindThe statutory provision for the making of annual reports to the Secretary of State by the North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board and the South of Scotland Electricity Board is contained in section 42(1) of the Electricity (Scotland) Act 1979. The annual report requirements applying to each board have effect as though made under that section of the Act. I refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the hon. Member for Tayside, North (Mr. Walker) on 17 October at column75.
Annual reports published by the boards in previous years are available in the Library of the House.
I am expecting the boards to make their reports for 1988–89 to me by the end of the year.
