§ Mr. TrippierI believe the United Kingdom delegation contributed positively to a final declaration in which the nearly 70 countries present were able unanimously to endorse our call for an international framework convention on climate change, to support the work of the inter-governmental panel on climate change, and to recognise the need to stabilise emissions of carbon dioxide. Maintaining this international consensus will be essential to effective action to combat the greenhouse effect.
