HC Deb 13 December 1989 vol 163 cc727-8W
104. Mr. Doran

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what percentage of the world's carbon dioxide emissions come from the developed world and the underdeveloped world.

Mr. Trippier

Figures for carbon dioxide emissions from developed and undeveloped countries are subject, to uncertainty due both to the definition of the terms and the assessment of emissions for particular countries. Recent estimates, defining developed countries as industrialised countries and centrally planned economies suggest that the undeveloped world accounts for about 15 per cent. of world carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuel combustion.
