HC Deb 20 April 1989 vol 151 cc251-2W
Mr. Sillars

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what assessment he has made of the total value to the latest available full year of public sector contracts in Scotland of a character which will make them open to Communitywide bidding as part of the creation of the internal market.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

No assessment has been made because information is not held centrally on Scottish public sector contracts. The cost of establishing a means of assessing the value of public contracts in Scotland to be opened to Communitywide bidding would not be justified.
