HL Deb 06 April 1989 vol 505 c1300WA
The Earl of Dudley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What are the statutory requirements with respect to the periodic reading of consumers' electricity meters by regional electricity boards.

Baroness Hooper

There are no statutory provisions governing the frequency of meter reading by area electricity boards. However, all boards endeavour to read meters at least once a year. Moreover, where customers disagree with an estimated account, they may contact the board with the correct reading and an amended bill will be sent to them.
