Mr. Gordon Brown

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will provide(a) perinatal, (b) neonatal and (c) infant mortality rates for each year since 1979 in Scotland, England and Wales separately with comparable figures for Germany, Sweden, France and the United States of America.

The information for each year for England, Wales and Scotland is shown in the tables, which also give comparable data for the other countries. These latter data have been taken from a number of international publications as indicated1. Where no figure is given, this indicates that insufficient data were available from these publications.
