HC Deb 31 October 1988 vol 139 c510W
Mr. Key

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many employment training schemes are operated in conjunction with the Ministry of Defence; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Nicholls

The information requested is not held by the Training Agency and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.

Mr. Key

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will investigate the speed of delivery of employment training literature from his Moorfoot, Sheffield office, particularly to provincial training centres including Salisbury.

Mr. Nicholls

The normal delivery time for bulk supplies of leaflets (which are held centrally by distribution companies) is three to five days depending on the weight and size of the consignment. Individual or small quantities of leaflets are normally sent by first class post. Urgent requests can be delivered within 24 hours if there is stock of the material available.

Deliveries to individual training managers and training agents are normally made by the local training agency area office and not directly from the Moorfoot office in Sheffield.

The area office covering the Salisbury area is located at Gloucester, and most literature would come from there or the out-station at Swindon.
