§ Mr. Barry JonesTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales (1) how many special schools he has visited since becoming Secretary of State for Wales;
(2) if he will visit Ysgol Belmont special school, Buckley, to meet the headmaster, his staff, senior students and parents to discuss difficulties relating to the school's work experience scheme; if he will seek sponsors to fund the Belmont school work experience scheme; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Peter Walker[holding answer 27 October 1988]: Until a fortnight ago I had not received any invitations from education authorities to visit a special school. I have now received an invitation to visit Ysgol Belmont special school from a member of Clwyd county council, which I am considering. It is for the local education authority and the school to consider future plans should the North-East Wales Institute decide not to accommodate the current work experience project within the new employment training scheme.
