HL Deb 31 October 1988 vol 501 c74WA
Lord Jenkins of Putney

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is their response to the appeal of concerned Nobel laureates at the United Nations on Kampuchea.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Lord Glenarthur)

The appeal was addressed to the Secretary General of the United Nations. We are not replying. However, it gives us no cause to change our policy on Cambodia's seat at the United Nations, which implies neither recognition of the coalition government of Democratic Kampuchea nor support for the abhorrent Pol Pot.
