§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonReturns submitted by local authorities indicate that at 31 March 1987, a total of 38,131 local authority dwellings in Scotland required some form of treatment for dampness. Of this total, 16,700 dwellings are located in the area covered by Glasgow district council.

It is not possible to identify from the returns how many of the dwellings in which they lived were below the tolerable standard.
