To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what was the expenditure on physiotherapy services in the National Health Service in Wales in 1982 and 1986–87; what was the percentage increase; and if he will make a statement.

NHS expenditure on physiotherapy and remedial gymnastic services is grouped together in financial statistics. Such expenditure in Wales in 1982–83 was £4,236,600 and in 1986–87 was £6,810,300. This represents an increase in real terms of 34.2 per cent. over the period.
