To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what is his policy towards his departmental witness at the Hinkley Point C public inquiry answering questions on the merits of departmental policy.

Mr. Ridley

Departmental witnesses at the Hinkley Point C public inquiry will explain the Government's radioactive waste management policy and strategy. In accordance with rule 12(3) of the inquiry procedure rules 1987, they will not be expected to discuss the merits of that policy.
