HC Deb 27 October 1988 vol 139 c383W
Mr. Strang

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what guidance has been issued to the agricultural inspectorate on the implementation and enforcement of the Food and Environment Protection Act; and what duties have been dropped to accommodate this additional work.

Mr. Nicholls

Written instructions providing guidance on the interpretation and enforcement of the Food and Environment Protection Act and its regulations have been issued to all HSE agricultural inspectors. These formal instructions are supported by relevant publications and training when necessary.

It has not been necessary to drop any duties to accommodate the work, which arises gradually as regulations come successively into force; some priorities in the work programme have been adjusted.
