HC Deb 27 October 1988 vol 139 c346W
Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make special funds available to the Training Commission to enable Belmont special school, Buckley, Clwyd to participate in the current work experience scheme for those aged 16-plus years who are slow learners; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

The decision whether to adapt the existing community programme provision in respect of Belmont special school to meet the requirements of employment training rests with the training manager at the north-east Wales institute. Any question of allocating education resources to this project is for the local education authority in the light of its priorities.

Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will invite the chairman of the Training Commission to visit Ysgol Belmont, Buckley, Clwyd, to discuss the difficulties facing the school's work experience scheme by senior students in January 1988; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

We have no plans to do so.
