§ Mr. Archie HamiltonTable 2.3 of volume 2 of the statement attributes expenditure between the main elements of the defence programme. Expenditure which cannot readily be attributed in this way is included under general headings such as "other vessels", which includes, for example, survey ships and HMV Britannia; "other areas" which includes Belize; "other aircraft" which includes Andovers and Devons; "other electronics" which includes navigation and avionic systems; "other R and D" which includes management of R and D, and work undertaken for other Government Departments; "other repair and maintenance" which includes REM E work, and repairs to Her Majesty's ships other than at Devonport or Rosyth; and "other support services" which includes defence attaches, and NATO infrastructure costs.
