To ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many people consulted the unemployment benefit offices in 1987; and if he will make a statement.

No records are kept for the number of people who consult unempoloyment benefit offices; however during 1987 there were a total of 4,777,575 claims made to unemployment benefit.
