HC Deb 25 October 1988 vol 139 c133W
Dr. Thomas

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy if he has had any meetings with British Nuclear Fuels plc senior executives following their complaints that British Nuclear Fuels plc efforts to assist the nuclear installations inspectorate investigation into alleged operator malpractice in radiological protection procedures had deflected key British Nuclear Fuels plc health staff away from genuine and important safety matters; and what implications this staff prioritisation has for safety at Sellafield.

Mr. Michael Spicer

I have noted both the report of the Health and Safety Executive's nuclear installations inspectorate (NII) and the comments made by British Nuclear Fuels plc (BNFL) in accepting the conclusions and recommendations of the report. I am confident that BNFL continues to give the highest priority to safety and that the NII will continue to provide the essential independent check on this.
