HC Deb 24 October 1988 vol 139 c89W
Mr. Wareing

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what have been the amounts spent by his Department in each of the last five years in order to combat urban blight.

Mr. Trippier

Detailed figures are not available in the form requested since "urban blight" is not a definition in official use. But the resources made available by the Department for bringing back into use derelict, unused or waste land in urban areas have increased from about £100 million in 1983–84 to a forecast £180 million in the current financial year.
