§ Mr. EggarSince the enactment in 1976 of the Animals and Plants (Protection of Endangered Species) Ordinance, which covers vicuna, the Hong Kong Authorities have not issued any licence for the import, export or possession of vicuna or any of its products. They therefore have no record of such stocks in the territory.

§ Mr. EggarWe are aware that the Peruvian Government are interested in expanding the vicuna population, but not aware of any request for financial assistance. We have recently conducted a review of our bilateral aid programme for Peru, and the question of vicuna was not raised by the Peruvian authorities.
