To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what has been the total percentage rise in the rate of price inflation, as measured by the relevant gross domestic product deflation from the year 1981 to 1988 inclusive in the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Japan, France and the Federal Republic of Germany, respectively.
