HC Deb 14 November 1988 vol 140 c415W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, pursuant to his answer of 8 November, to whom the vehicles involved in the incident on 30 October on the Salisbury Plain training area in which a smoke grenade was discharged belonged; and what nationality were their occupants.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

The vehicles involved are the property of the United States Air Force. The occupants were both British and United States service personnel. The vehicles were exercising on an area of the Salisbury Plain training area from which members of the public were exluded at the time, under the relevant byelaws. Inquiries have disclosed that the complainants' car was assumed to be an exercise vehicle. No disciplinary action will be taken.
