HC Deb 14 November 1988 vol 140 c392W
Mr. Cox

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what plans his Department has to standardise the list of personal possessions prison inmates may be allowed to take with them when they are moved from prison to prison in the United Kingdom; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

Standing Order No. 4, a copy of which is in the Library of the House, describes the range of privileges available to inmates and the conditions under which they may be granted. The question whether greater standardisation is desirable is being considered as part of the Department's examination of Her Majesty's chief inspector of prison's report of his review of prisoners' complaints.
