HC Deb 14 November 1988 vol 140 c408W
Mr. Parry

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what representations he has received concerning the proposal to change some main post offices to agency offices; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Forth

My right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Duchy and I had received as at 10 November representations from seven hon. Members, bodies concerned and members of the public.

Mr. Parry

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will make a statement on Post Office employee's pension rights following the change of main post offices to agency office status in April 1989.

Mr. Forth

Pension arrangements for Post Office employees are an operational matter for the Post Office. I understand, however, that the Post Office expects to be able to absorb the vast majority of employees affected by the change of status. Those few who may not be able to be absorbed would be offered redundancy terms in accordance with existing Post Office redundancy arrangements.
