HC Deb 14 November 1988 vol 140 cc457-8W
Mr. Allen

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what efforts he is making to increase the take-up of family credit in Nottingham; and how much will be spent on this by his Department.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

I refer the hon. Member to my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Brentwood and Ongar (Mr. McCrindle) on 4 November at column810 regarding the action being taken on a national basis. The Department's regional information officer is involved in a wide range of local initiatives being taken in Nottingham to publicise family credit, including contacts with trade unions and talks to other organisations and on local radio. It is not possible to identify separately the amount being spent on family credit publicity in Nottingham.
