To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many elderly single and married persons are aged over 75 years; what proportion in each case now claim (i) income support (ii) housing benefit or (iii) rate relief; how many are likely to be able to claim relief from payment of the poll tax in whole or in part and how many are likely to be worse off than at present when the poll tax is introduced.
