§ Mr. Tony BanksTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the costs of the current territorial publicity recruiting campaign.
§ Mr. FreemanThe campaign to which the hon. Member refers is not aimed at recruiting but is intended to draw the attention of the public to the status of and the important role played by the volunteer forces in the defence of the country and, in particular, to seek the support of employers. As far as costs are concerned, I draw the attention of the hon. Member to the answer that I gave the hon. Member for Nottingham, North (Mr. Allen) on 31 October 1988 at column531.
