§ Mr. Ian StewartA prisoner sentenced to a fixed term of imprisonment is eligible for 50 per cent. remission. The mandatory sentence for murder is life imprisonment, or detention during pleasure if the offender was under 18 at the time of the crime, and such sentences by their nature do not attract remission.
