HC Deb 09 November 1988 vol 140 cc215-6W
Ms. Short

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many unemployed claimants have been referred to job clubs or the new job training scheme as a result of restart interviews since 1986; how many of them have subsequently taken up places in job clubs or on NJTS; how many of them have been recalled for follow-up interviews with either a claimant adviser or restart counsellor because they have failed to join the job club or NJTS; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Lee

Referrals to jobclubs and new job training Scheme since 1986 are given in the table. We do not know how many people ultimately take up the options offered to them at the restart interview. Information is only held on the total number of follow-up interviews carried out and not by category.
