HC Deb 09 November 1988 vol 140 c203W
Mr. Cran

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the extent to which Britain's foreign policy remains independent of the other member states of the European Community.

Mr. Eggar

Britain's foreign policy remains British. Within the framework of European political co-operation we have an obligation to inform and consult our European partners on matters of general interest. The ability of the Twelve to speak and act together is a significant help in achieving British objectives.
