HC Deb 08 November 1988 vol 140 c114W
Mr. Geraint Howells

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he has any further plans to improve health care facilities for the elderly at Cardigan hospital; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Grist

The facilities at Cardigan hospital are a matter for East Dyfed health authority in the first instance. That authority's strategic plan includes a scheme to improve and co-ordinate services for the elderly in the Cardigan area by, inter alia, providing consultant geriatrician beds and a day hospital at Cardigan hospital. Timing of the implementation of the scheme is a matter for the authority to determine in the light of competing demands and available resources.
