HC Deb 07 November 1988 vol 140 c3W
Mr. Pawsey

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what plans he has to introduce more schools into the assisted places scheme.

Mr. Kenneth Baker

Subject to the satisfactory completion of participation agreements, 52 additional schools will be joining the assisted places scheme from September 1989. The schools concerned are all of the high quality required for participation in the APS. I am confident that they will enhance this successful and popular scheme which is now on course to reach 35,000 places by the mid-1990s.
