Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what decisions have been taken in Wales in relation to the base population assumptions for poll tax purposes with regard to allowances which will be made in that figure for the population(a) living in holiday homes for part of the year; and (b) staying in Wales on holiday; and whether these increases in base population will affect the distribution of grant or the distribution of centrally collected non-domestic rating revenue.

No final decisions have yet been taken on the definitions of population in the context of the Local Government Finance Act 1988. This subject is still being discussed with the local authority associations.
