To ask the Attorney-General what is the number of staff employed by the Official Solicitor's children's division; and how many of those staff have legal qualifications and how many have qualifications in child care or related subjects.

The number of staff presently employed in the Official Solicitor's children's division is 42. Two of the staff are legally qualified, and the Official Solicitor and the Deputy Official Solicitory also take a

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will publish the most up-to-date figures for both the Birmingham and Solihull and Coventry and Warwickshire areas showing how many people have been referred to the following options as a result of their restart interviews and how many agreed to follow these options up(a) referred to a job, (b) referred to community programme, (c) allocated to restart courses, (d) referred to NJTS, (e) referred to ET, (f) referred to other training, (g) referred to job clubs, (h) referred to EAS, (i) referred to VPP and voluntary work and (j) referred to ERC.

The numbers of people referred to various menu items during the restart programmme from 28 March to 30 September 1988 are shown in the table. We do not know how many of those interviewed ultimately end up in a job or other opportunity as a result of the restart interview.
