HC Deb 03 November 1988 vol 139 c751W
Mr. Home Robertson

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the charges made for factoring Scottish Special Housing Association houses in the Borders region by(a) Waverley Housing, and (b) Roxburgh district council and Ettrick and Lauderdale district council.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

The proposed arrangements for the management of its stock in the Borders are a matter for the Scottish Special Housing Association. The association has advised that the payments made to Roxburgh district council and Ettrick and Lauderdale district council are £22.30 per house and £2.90 per garage.

Although arrangements have been agreed in principle with Waverley housing trust to provide a full management service for the SSHA houses in Roxburgh district and Ettrick and Lauderdale district, no contract has yet been signed. The financial arrangements will depend on the total number of houses managed by Waverley housing trust at any time. The formula for this arrangement is still under discussion between the SSHA and the trust to ensure that it properly reflects the different nature of the service to be provided by Waverley housing trust compared with that provided by the district councils.
