To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list in theOfficial Report those salmon fishing rights on the River Tweed that will be exempt under the provisions of section 22A(1)(b) of the Local Government Finance Act 1988; if he will estimate the rates loss to the local authorities involved; and what steps he proposes to make good the rating revenue lost.

Information on individual salmon fishings is not held centrally. The estimated reductions in local authority non-domestic rate income in Scotland resulting from derating of salmon fishings on the River Tweed is £86,000. The local authorities will be compensated under the revenue support grant system.
