HC Deb 03 November 1988 vol 139 c712W
Mr. Jim Marshall

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what progress has been made with the demolition of Divis flats in West Belfast and the development of alternative housing provision for the people of Divis.

Mr. Needham

This is a matter for the chairman of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive who has advised me that since 1984 six of the original 12 deck-access blocks have been demolished in a phased programme of redevelopment, scheduled to take place over a seven to 10-year period. Work on a first phase of 95 new dwellings is expected to start in March 1989.
